Junaid Jamshed Blasphemy Case: FIR Registered in a Karachi Police Station
Junaid Jamshed blasphemy case has turned into very serious offence and an FIR has been lodged against him in a Police station in Karachi on charges of blasphemy. The singer turned religious preacher Juniad Jamshed has apologized for his act but a religious political party Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST) believed that the blasphemy is unforgivable sin and should be punishable by death.
On a recent video aired on ARY QTV, the popular religious preacher Junaid Jamshed has been alleged of doing blasphemy against Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Hazrat Ayesha RA. The video, which gone viral on social media has sparked emotions of a large society in Pakistan. Now an official of PST has lodged an FIR in Risala Police Station, Karachi.
The FIR no. 234/2014 has been filed under Section 296-C and 298-A of The Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Various religious leaders including his close friend Moulama Tariq Jamil, the leader of Tableeghi Jamaat, has distanced himself from Junaid Jamshed act and asked him to make public apology, however, an official of PST stressed that Jamshed is the media coordinator of Tableeghi Jamaat and had been preaching their ideology.
Another eminent religious scholar and the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Maulana Tahir Ashrafi said Jamshed has no connection with any religious organisation, including the Tableeghi Jamaat. The incident has again sparked a debate on the application and handling of blasphemy law by various religious schools in Pakistan and huge protests against has been lodge nationwide.
