Shatapu in Android – Hopscotch Pakistan
Android applications on Play Store are the new trend these days in the world of smart phones. Mobile applications of every kind, providing all types of facilities to the users are available for download on a single touch. Similarly, the Android games are in high demand and are making their presence felt with the amount of user interest they are gathering for themselves.
However, there are a very few Android games which are actually making players interested by introducing innovation and quality with tradition! Take the example of Hopscotch Pakistan which has been recently launched by OffRoad Studies.
Hopscotch Pakistan is a game which reflects childhood memories. It builds on the simple game of hopscotch (known as stapu in Pakistan) and moves towards representing the true colors of Pakistan.
The game is set in three major cities of Pakistan. With their varying features, the cities of Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi represent different sceneries. Even the colors of the cities are different, making a comment on the mood of the people who live in them.
There are five levels which the player has to win to travel from one city to the other. The thing I have liked the most about this game is its simplicity. Even without the instructions given, the game can be easily played. For each level there are two sub-levels. One requires you to throw the dice and the other to click on flashing colors.
To celebrate the game and its theme, it has been released on the 14th of August. The Independence Day marks the connection that the people share with their land. Hopscotch Pakistan takes the players back to their humble beginnings when there were no computer games and smart phones were beyond the idea of existence. The connecting boxes of the game reunite the players with the wonders of their childhood. They also connect us to the innocence of playing games which is somewhat lost by now.
The game reminds of an era when street games were everything for children. They used to spend hours drawing the carefully calculated maps with chalk for the game. Even though the players of the Android game do not have to literally hop after throwing each flick, they cannot but help jumping with excitement after successfully completing each level.
Anyone and everyone can easily get addicted to this game. Take my example, I have only started and I am already on my way to Islamabad!
